Who we are

My photo
We are two Welsh cousins called Kate and Lauren, who decided to start a blog. Kate is 18 years old and is the biggest Disney nerd there is, and Lauren is 16 years old and is obsessed with criminology. The blog will have a wide variety of topics that we both love and are able to talk about with ease.

Update!

We are going to be no longer posting in the topic of fandoms. The topic will be replaced by lifestyle where we will be talking about our lives and what goes on in them.

Kate will be posing the first lifestyle post tomorrow, all about panic attacks.

Our fashion - style

These days many people have their own style which is expressing their personalities and individuality through the clothes that they wear.

Now we love clothes, so we decided to share with you some of our go to looks, and what type of things you would find in our wardrobes!

(ignore all of my stupid faces in photos)

Now for anyone who knows me they know I'm a massive Disney nerd, and no Disney nerd wardrobe is compleat with out a abundance of Disney tee-shirts and jumpers. I own a a few Disney items  (over 20 to be precise). I normally pair these tops with black leggings or jeans, or if I'm actually in Disney a pair of shorts or skirt and no Disney look can go with out mouse ears! My favourite Disney item at the moment has to be my Epcot (or should that be, experimental prototype community of tomorrow) jumper.

Now summer is coming to an end a the colder months are on the horizon, my love for warm clothing grows bigger by the day! If it's knitted, oversized, soft, fluffy and cwtchy (all the welsh people knows what that means!) then I adore it! As it become more like winter week by week I've started to stock up on jumpers, cardigans, jackets and coats every time I go out shopping I seem to be buying one of these items, but is that a bad thing? They are a great addition to any wardrobe, they are easy to pair with other items of clothing, they instantly make any outfit look ready for Christmas (my favourite time of the year) and they are super practical as they keep you warm.

Let's talk accessories, there is one thing I love and that's hats, all types of hats. I have a box full to burst of hats, they are my easy go to accessory. Hats can be a saviour, bad hair day? No problem stick a hat on your head and your sorted, instead of getting funny looks because of the state of you hair, you'll be getting compliments on your cute hat! I own many hats of all different styles, from beanies to sun hats, to bowler hats, to the plain old silly ones with ears, I can't get enough hats!
(the newest hat in my collection)

From Disney, to cozy jumpers, to hats, my style is very diverse I don't think I can say 'yep that's my style' because I don't have just one style, it normally all depends on how I feel when I wake up in the morning, one day I could be wearing a Disney tee-shirt, leggings and a hat with ears and then the next day I could be wearing a oversized cardigan, with ripped jeans and a crop top! Style shows personality, and by the looks of it I have many different personalities, but I am ME and that's never gonna change!

-Kate.

Now like Kate I also have many personalities and so my style varies from day to day. Now one item of clothing I'm absolutely obsessed with is my denim shirt. It's such a classic and simple piece of clothing but it's great for casual and even smart/casual wear if you pair it with the right things. I usual wear it with my black skinny jeans and pretty much any tee shirt I can find then I complete the look by wearing (fake, unfortunately) Timberland boots. However, you could always do the buttons up and perhaps wear a nice necklace and of course black skinny jeans and some pretty boots, perfect for a meal out with friends or family.

Okay so the summer holidays are coming to a close unfortunately and as we live in the UK we get terrible summers but we luckily have had one or two nice warm sunny days so of course I took advantage of them. Even though the weather is nice there's usually still a chance of rain or it getting a little cold so I still cover up but I have to say my favourite summer outfit was a white vest top underneath a short white tee with my trusty black leggings and a pink lace kimono. To complete my summer look I also french plaited my hair as when it is warm I love my hair off my face but I'm not a fan of ponytails or buns when I go out so plaits are a summer must!
(This is a terrible picture I am aware so please ignore my face)

Our UK summers don't last but it does stay warm (sometimes) so this next piece of clothing is perfect. This raincoat is my savour, it's so light and thin for when it's warm and perfect for keeping you dry with those little summer showers. I absolutely love the pattern as it's still very summery and well I love floral designs anyway! I was first a little worried when I did buy it (well I picked it but it was bought for me) as I thought it wouldn't actually go with some of my clothes but I found it actually goes really well with everything in my wardrobe! What a bonus! (apologies about the picture but it's the only one I have wearing it, this is from my results day)

-Lauren.

So as you can see our wardrobes are full to burst with a wide range of clothes (but we can never find anything to wear when we need it!) A girl can never have to many clothes!

Until next time,

-Kate and Lauren.

Stationery - school

Well it's that time of year again, everyone is getting ready for another year of learning (and maybe exams). There's one thing that should be top of everyone's list. Stationery.

Everyone needs pens, pencils and of course felt tip pens for doodling in those boring classes.

My favourite part of back to school shopping is definitely stationery and supplies, I usually get all my things from Wilkos as it's cheap and excellent quality! This year I was in need of folders, notebooks and a diary as I'm starting college and I found Wilkos had a fabulous range of these products at very good prices. For example I bought these 3 coloured folders for only 50p each!!

Also this beautiful diary with the quote "Every journey begins with a single step" which I found perfect. It's also great as it's an academic diary so it starts July 2015 and ends July 2016.

I'm actually a pretty organised person (though many people don't believe it!) and so when I saw this project book I knew I had to have it. You may be aware of the 'Pukka pad' project books, well I love them but always find them a little on the expensive side but when I saw Wilkos had their own it went straight into my basket!

Now pens are a very important aspect of stationery shopping. My favourite types of pens are the 'Bic' pens as they're great quality. I bought a packet of 10 in Wilkos, which included 2 black pens, 4 blue pens, 2 red pens and 2 green pens.
However when I was in The Works I saw a very cute blue pen covered in ice creams with smily faces so obviously I bought that too because every girl needs a cute pen!

Anyway, I hope this post has given you a few ideas of any stationery you may need for back to school!

Our next post on Sunday is a joint one all about style.

Until then, byeeeee

Peanut butter cake in a mug - food

Who doesn't love cake, especially if it comes in a mug and takes less than 5 minutes to make!

Now I love cake my only problem is I can't make it! I'm really not a very good baker, until I discovered this!

Now I live on Pinterest it's like my second home, and one day I discovered the wonder that is cake in a mug, and it looked pretty simple so I give it a go.
However I didn't want just a plain cake so I decided to add one of my favourite things, PEANUT BUTTER I mean I love this stuff I'm obsessed, so why not incorporate it into my cake!

Now okay this may not look like the nicest cake, but it tasted amazing (if I do say so my self) as I said before I'm not the best baker, so I wasn't expecting much and looks wise it really doesn't appeal but I'm sure with practice I will be able to make it look nicer. But it was eatable so I didn't mind that it didn't look to great!

This cake is really easy to make - if I can do it anyone can do it.

Ingredients -
~  3/2 tbsp flour
~ 4 tsp sugar
~ 4 tbsp milk
~ 2 tsp baking powder
~ peanut butter ( your desired amount)

Directions -
Add all ingredients except the peanut butter into a microwave friendly mug. Mix ingredients until your cake mixture is smooth. Add peanut butter (I used 1/2 tbsp, you can add your desired amount, depending on how strong you would like the taste to be). Mix in the peanut butter.
Place your mug in the microwave and cook for approximately  1 minute 30.
If cake is not done with in this time, reheat for 30 seconds, ( you can keep doing this until your cake is done, keep an eye on your cake, do not leave unattended).
Leave cake cool for a few minutes before eating, the cake tastes it's best while still warm.

I also decided to add two reese's peanut butter cups to mine, this is completely up to you, but I found the melted chocolate topped of the cake perfectly.

See how easy is that! Hopfully yours will look better that mine did, but as long as it tastes good who cares!

Of course my recipe is only guidelines, this is just what happened to work for me, but experiment with it and see what suits you best!

Until next time, see you later alligator,

-Kate.

Selp Helf by Miranda Sings - review

You haven't heard of Miranda Sings! Where have you been, she's only the most talented singer, dancer, actor, model and magician there has ever been!

Okay maybe not, Miranda is actually a comedic YouTube character created by the amazing Colleen Ballinger, and she (well Miranda) has not long published a book "Selp Helf by Miranda Sings"
(all the things in the book are for comedy and not to be taken seriously)

Now both myself and Lauren are both obsessed with YouTube, so when I discovered that one of my favourite youtubers were releasing a book, of course I was going to rush out to get it!

There are many amazing things about Mirandas book. Now Miranda is super talented in many things and she's always trying to help others, so she gives you a list to help you discover how talented you are to. Now some people my feel dishearten to find out that they have no talents featured on the list but like I said Miranda likes to help, so she gives you many ways to gain and improve upon your talents.

I'm starting university in September and the chapter on finance is certainly going to come in useful! In this chapter Miranda teaches you things like how to make money, saving and investing money and she even gives you some brilliant coupons.

Now my favourite page in the whole book has to be the one where you can learn to be a anti-porn unicorn, because I mean who doesn't want to be a anti-porn unicorn! Miranda shows you what a anti-porn unicorn is and what they do, and she even includes a free unicorn horn so you can become one too, how great is that!

That only negative to this book is that it's not longer, because you can never have to much Miranda.

I totally recommend checking out Mirandas YouTube channel and if you like her then you are going to love her book! It's a small part of her, that she has so kindly shared with all of her mirfandas ( for all those who don't know, mirfandas are what Miranda calls her fans)

-Kate.

Wow, what else is there to say? Miranda's book is definitely the best self help book there is!! Any troubles or problems you may be having such as finding a new 'bae', Miranda can help you.

Or even if you're dealdealing with heartache or looking for a way to break up with your 'bae', this book can help!

One of my absolute favourite chapters is 'life haks'. It's absolutely perfect for everyday life problems like 'opening things' and 'other uses for household items'. It just shows how even a celebrity like Miranda deals with everyday problems too. I've also learnt I've been sitting on the toilet wrong too!

There's so many funny and fantastic things in this book, so if you are looking for a good book with added laughs (or you want to change your ways to be like the bootiful Miranda sings) then this book is definitely a good buy.

-Lauren.

So as you can see we are both massive mirfandas, and we love her book! But if you don't like her that's okay too, everyone's entitled to their opinion but in the words of Miranda "haters back off".

Until next time,
- Kate and Lauren.

Youtube - Fandoms

As you may be aware (unless you've been living under a rock) youtube is becoming more and more popular everyday. Well it's pretty understandable as you can find almost everything on there, from daily volgs to makeup tutorials to computer gaming to funny cat videos.

Although there is a lot of funny videos on YouTube, you can also find a lot of people discussing serious topics such as videos about being comfortable as yourself and getting through things such as anxiety and panic attacks.

YouTube has also created some very big stars such as Alfie Deyes (pointlessblog), Zoe Sugg (Zoella), Tyler Oakley and of course many more. Writing books has also become something many youtubers go on to do. Whether they be about life or cooking or fictional, they are becoming increasingly popular.

I'm currently obsessed with "A very potter musical" (thanks to Kate) which is a series of 3 musicals which are a parody of the Harry Potter books/films. It was created by a production team called 'Starkid' so they're definitely worth checking out on YouTube, they also parody many more films (such as Aladdin and Batman)  if Harry Potter isn't your cup of tea.

I also absolutely adore 'Zalfie' which are probably Youtube's biggest couple, Alfie Deyes and Zoe Sugg.

One of my all time favourites however, is Miranda Sings who is a comedic character played by the amazing Colleen Ballinger (now Evans).

Previously, Kate and I attempted to make our own Youtube channel but unfortunately it didn't really hit off and it got deleted due to inactivity and its little views. However, when we did record a few videos I think we saw the difficulty many Youtuber's go through such as thinking of a video idea, filming it and editing it. It's actually not as easy as you may believe it to be.

Anyway, that's all for today from me.
Next upload with be a joint on Sunday!

You're so skinny - style

How are you so skinny?
Now this is question I've grown up hearing from family, friends and even doctors when I was a child they would jokingly ask if I was getting fed at home (which I didn't find very funny)
I'm 18 years old and I still look in the mirror wishing I could have a bit more shape to me instead of being a long string of nothing (which I have been called many times), being 18 you would think I would have some curves by now, and I'm not saying I don't but what I do have is hardly noticeable.

Now I have in no way any eating disorder, I eat tones I literally have chocolate for breakfast. Now the reason that I am so thin is simply metabolism, I have high metabolism which means my body breaks down calories and fat faster than normal. I can eat the same amount as all my friends sometime even more, but because of my metabolism it's very difficult for me to gain weight.

Now most people would say stop complaining and I don't know how many times I've heard "oh I'd love to be as small as you" but it isn't always that great.
Shopping for clothes is always a pain, finding smaller sizes can be quite difficult and as I'm not really that short (I'm 5ft5) I can never shop in the petite section, as the clothes never have the length. Also eating out in restaurants can really knock your self esteem, when you have a full plate of food and all you get "are you really going to eat all that?" "Is there enough room in you for all that food" "you must be really hungry", and then the shocked look you get when you finish it all.

"I would love to be as skinny as you" "look how small and cute you are" "you are sooo thin" "it's amazing how much you eat, and you're so small" now these may be seen to many as compliments, but as a thin girl these are the type of things you hate to hear, these type of things make you feel guilty about how you look and it's the fact you can't do nothing about it, is the thing that makes it hard! Just because I'm thin doesn't mean I have body confidence, it's the exact opposite I rather hide my body and size away instead of hearing all these comments, even if they are trying to be nice.
One of the most frustrating thing I get it is "you're so skinny" now you many look at that and not see a problem, but would you go up to a bigger person and say "you're so fat" NO you wouldn't, so what's the difference!

There are things I hate about my body because of my size, like my hands my fingers are so long and skinny it makes it impossible to wear most rings as they just look silly, also I hate my shoulders as they are so boney which makes me really self conscious when wearing strappy tops.

Now even though I have mostly complained about being thin, there are definite positive points to being thin as well, like the fact you can eat the big bars of dairy milk chocolate and not have to feel guilty. Being able to buy an outfit for an event in the future and not worry about not being able to fit into it. Being able to sit anywhere. You can get picked up to reach high places, or this even comes into play at festivals when you can't see. You can run and jump and not get pain in your boobs, because if your the same type of thin as me then you've hardly got any. Also being able to fit into small places is always a perk, epically when playing hide and seek as a child ( who am I kidding I would still play if someone asked me to)

Even though I think I would be nice to have a bit more of a shape to me, I wouldn't change for the world because it's me, and I'm happy being me and if the world has an issue with that then it's their problem. You shouldn't judge anyone on their looks epically their size, as long as their happy you should be too! Take into consideration other people's feelings to, you don't know the effect of what you say has on them.

Until next time, see you later alligator
- Kate.

Leaving school - school

Although it's nearing towards the end of the summer holidays, we thought we'd look back and share our experiences of leaving school and what we're both looking forward to as we start new chapters in our education.

Be prepared for a long post!

When I started secondary school it was very difficult, I was always a quiet child and because of that I struggled to make friends, meaning I had no one and my school life was miserable and I didn't want to go! However my school were able to deal with me and my problems and got me through my first year, they were able to introduce me to people who I have been friends with for what now seems like forever.

On Thursday I got handed my A-Level results I had two A*'s and a B which I am very happy with, but it does mean that my time in school has officially ended. Now technically I finished school in June, had my prom July 3rd and a leavers presentation on July 4th so I have been away from the school for quite a while. Leaving made me sad but happy at the same time there were so many mixed emotions, no matter how much I hated the school when I first started they got me through so much, and if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be the person I am today.

One thing I have found since leaving school is that I don't see my friends as much, when I was in school I would see them everyday now I hardly see them at all. However we do try and talk as much as we can, as I've gone through so much with these people and they mean so much to me I wouldn't want to throw it all away. I feel like it's important to keep these friendships as they are going to be some of the strongest bonds you are ever going to have, if your friends are anything like mine they know you inside out and that's one thing you don't want to lose. There's many ways to keep in touch with your friends nowadays, Social media is a great way to talk and keep up to date with each others lives, text and Skype always come in useful when you need to talk and also make sure you make some time to meet up with each other and have a great catch up!

Now after you leave school there are many paths you may take, personally im going to university to further my education as I feel like it's going to help me get where I want to go in life, but many of my friends are doing other things. There's an option for a job, jump straight into the work place and start earning money, if you know where you want to go start working your way up the ladder. Maybe take a gap year, especially if you aren't sure on what you want to do, this will give you more time to figure out where you want to go next. Go back to college and get some more A-levels, maybe you feel like the qualifications you have aren't going to get you where you want to go, so go and get what you need.

The change from being in school to leaving is scary but it's something that bound to happen at some point just take it in your stride.

- Kate.

Now let's have a look at Lauren's experience.

Right, well I also finished school a while ago as my prom and leaver's presentation was on June 19th. I started comprehensive school in 2010 and I absolutely loved it, although I was separated from most of my friends I managed to meet 4 fantastic people who pretty much have stayed by my side through everything over the past 5 years. Like Kate it also saddens me that I don't see them as much anymore now school has ended but hopefully when I start college in September we will all still be as close and hopefully I'll get to meet some more great people.

June 15th marked the last day of my GCSE exams and I was so happy they were finally over. All exams and coursework completed I was ready to enjoy my summer. Last year I managed to sit a few of my GCSEs early and I was very pleased with the outcome and that then gave me a lot of encouragement for the following year and also took a whole lot of worries off my shoulders (although throughout my exams and coursework this year I did worry a lot and I worried so much I honestly thought I couldn't get through it, but I did!). If you're like me and panic a lot, just remember everything happens for a reason and you will get through it.

I feel quite unlucky in a way as my school doesn't offer a sixth form so I'm unable to do my a-levels at the same school I did my GCSEs but at least I get to start a new chapter and go to a sixth form college to do my a-levels. I'm sad that my time at my school has ended but honestly the best thing to do is look to the future, whether it be college and university or a completly different route, it'll be good and exciting and I think everyone should think like that. I'm currently awaiting my results for my GCSEs now and hopefully they are the grades I need to be able to study what I want in college for me then to be able to continue education into university.

-Lauren

Anyway, although that was a long post we hope that it's helped others who have finished school and are looking into furthering their education or whether you're still in the middle of your school experience but worried about when it comes to an end.

Until next time,

-Kate and Lauren.

Dessert love - food

If there's one thing I love it has to be food. More importantly, desserts. Although I am very partial to savoury food and snacks, I have such a sweet tooth.
Cake is definitely one of my favourite desserts, along with Ice cream, chocolate and sweets ( or well pretty much any sort of sweet thing I can get my hands on!)
Eating out in restaurants is also a thing I enjoy as it's great for trying new foods and enjoying some really good classics. Anyway, I'm going to talk about a few of my favourite restaurants and my favourite desserts from there and hopefully you can try these and enjoy them too! ( These may only be available in the UK as they are UK restaurants)

Dessert #1
Frankie and Benny's
Peanut butter cheesecake
Rate out of 10 : 9

This dessert is a must have for anyone with a love of peanut butter (like me). This cheesecake is topped with peanuts and has 3 layers of delicious chocolate and peanut butter. It's also served with peanut butter ice cream which just complements the cheesecake so well.

Dessert #2
Harvester
Brownie, toffee and cookie dough stack
Rate out of 10 : 8

This is definitely for someone who has a massive sweet tooth! Another dessert of 3 layers but this time with a very chocolaty brownie on top, thick toffee sauce oozing in the middle and cookie dough at the bottom to give it that extra delicious flavour. Also served with vanilla ice cream and a thin layer of toffee sauce. The only negative aspect of this dessert (not really a negative in my eyes) is that it's super sickly and although it may look quite small it is very filling!!

Dessert #3
Aberkenfig New Garden Chinese (definitely worth a visit if you're visiting / living in Wales! )
Chocolate gateaux
Rate out of 10 : 8

Ahh what a classic! This tasty chocolate gateaux is perfect if you're looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth after an amazing but savoury Chinese meal. A slice of this gateaux with a delicious chocolate sauce drizzled over it is just what any chocolate lover needs. So if you ever find yourself in South Wales (UK) then it's definitely worth giving this cake some attention!

Well there's my first solo post done! I'm just glad that it was on food as it's one of my most loved subjects.

Next post will be Sunday and it's a joint one all about school life.

Thanks for reading

Pretty little liars - review

Okay so I know I'm a day late with my first ever solo post, however there is a reason and that's Pretty Little Liars. Living in the UK the season finale came out this morning, and it didn't seem right to be writing a review on the program without watching the finale.

There will be NO spoilers in this in this review. (or at least hopefully there will be none).

Pretty Little Liars is a U.S. TV drama, that follows the lives of four girls who are trying to find out what has happened to their friend Alison, and discover the identity of the mysterious "A" who has started threatening the girls.
At the moment Pretty Little Liars is one of my favourite programs, it's just one of them shows that I could binge watch, as each episode leaves you wanting more as they always seem to end on a cliffhanger!
Each character brings something special to the show, Spencer is by far the brains of the group, and I love her fashion style its vintage but modern which is simply stunning. Emily is the more sporty one of the group, her character goes through so much throughout the 6 seasons and I feel like the things her character experiences would help so many who are going through the exact same thing. Aria is the unique one of the group she is so different from anyone else in the show, I feel like she shows you that it's okay to be different and stand out from the crowd. Finally Hannah is the girly one of the group, Hannah is definitely my favourite charater as she always does what she believes in and even if it doesn't work out for the best she keeps moving forward.

Pretty Little Liars seems like it has been going on forever and it practically has, and in its 6th season we finally find out who is real "A" is. So let's talk the finale now no matter how much I love the series I can't help feel a little disappointed, okay so we did find out who "A" is but some how I don't think it was the best option, but with it being Pretty Little Liars you never know what to expect with a new twist coming around each corner. One thing that I loved in the finale episode were the girls dresses, they were beautiful and represented each of the girls personalitys so brilliantly, and in my opinion the prettiest dress had to be Alison's. I was expecting all the unanswered questions to be answered but the finale has left me with so many new questions, but with it being Pretty Little Liars I shouldn't have got my hopes up! From what I've heard there will be a season 7 and it will be the last season so hopefully all questions will be answered.

I do recommend watching Pretty Little Liars but you do have to be prepared to be very confused in mostly all episodes, and make sure that you have time to watch it as there are so many episodes and I feel like it's one of them show once you've started watching it you won't want to stop!

Well that's it for this review, Lauren will be posting a food post on Thursday so keep an eye out for that!

Until next time, see you later alligator!
- Kate.

The Beginning

Hello,
Welcome to our blog!
You might be wondering who we are, we are two aspiring Welsh bloggers called Kate and Lauren.

Hii I'm Kate, an 18 year old Disney enthusiast, theatre geek who's just starting university. I've always wanted to start a blog but I've never known how and I didn't want to go at it alone, so I managed  to rope my cousin Lauren into it with me. One important thing you may need to know about me is that I have dyslexia so there may be the odd spelling or grammar mistake, but I'll try my best to avoid it. My posts will be about things I love and care about, sharing a little part of me.

Hi, I'm Lauren. I'm 16 and just starting sixth form college. I am absolutely obsessed with criminology and also just learning in general, History and English literature are big loves of mine. Like Kate I also have a huge passion for Disney (but I'm not as obsessed as her). One important fact about me is I am incredibly materialistic! I see shopping as an Olympic sport. In my posts you'll find a lot of things in brackets (I can't help it) and also my honest opinions.

In this blog you will find a wide variety of topics from food to school to style to fandoms. The upload schedule will be : Tuesdays - Kate's posts, Thursdays - Lauren's posts and Sundays - Joint posts.

We hope you stick around for the adventure and learn along with us.

- Kate and Lauren.
