Who we are

My photo
We are two Welsh cousins called Kate and Lauren, who decided to start a blog. Kate is 18 years old and is the biggest Disney nerd there is, and Lauren is 16 years old and is obsessed with criminology. The blog will have a wide variety of topics that we both love and are able to talk about with ease.

October favourites

Okay so it's the last Sunday of the month so that means we are going to talk about all the things we have been loving this month.

Kate -
First off I'm super exited to be starting monthly favourites on our blog, it's somthing I've been looking at doing for a while and now I'm actually doing it! Yay, anyway let's get to it, here are some of my favourites this month...

My university room -
Yes I moved in during September, but I feel like I've finally settled in to the room this month and I love it.
The room it's self is amazing and the people I share the flat with are also amazing, things couldn't be better! I never thought my university accomidation would feel like home but it dose and it's been so nice making this place my own. On Tuesday I will be writing a post all about my room and the things I've done to make it mine, I'll also do a post on decorating my room for Christmas closer to the festive season.

Username Evie -
This is a graphic novel by joe sugg (also known as thatcherjoe on YouTube). I bought this book at the begging of the month and I read it from cover to cover in a day, and I've read it so many times since its that brilliant. I'm a big fan of Joe on YouTube and that was one of the main reasons that I bought the book and I'm so glad I did, it's one of them stories that I'm never going to get bored of. Even if you don't know who Joe Sugg is you'll love the book, I was able to relate to the story so much and I feel like so many others will too.

Wonder hand -
Zoella beauty's wonder hand, moisturising hand cream has been a life saver this month. Okay so I feel like so many of my favourites are coming from youtubers this month, especially the Suggs, this is one of the products from Zoe sugg's ( also known as Zoella on YouTube ) beauty range. With the weather getting colder, my hands are getting dryer and dryer but this hand cream is a life or should I say hand saver. It's the perfect size to through in your handbag with out taking up tones of room, it also doesn't leave your hands sticky or greasy after using it which is something I hate about most moisturisers. It also smells amazing, it's not to strong but there is a definite sent which is lovely to catch hint of every now and then.

Colourful pens -
I've always been a big pen lover and stationary is one of my many weaknesses, as soon as I see a cute pen or notebook I instantly need it. With being in university I wanted to become a lot more organised meaning I've started colour coordinating everything, which meant buying so many different colour pens. The ones I've been loving the most are the tesco's own ones, I can't remember the price but they weren't expensive, the colour on them are brilliant they are bright and clear, they also write really smooth which is what makes the perfect pen for me.

Bandanas -
So I've been loving these for a while, but this month I feel like they have become a obsession. Doing a course in drama is very physical and means a move around a lot, so I've found my self picking up a bandana more often than normal and it's the perfect way to keep my hair out of my face. Bandanas are becoming my go to hair accessory, especially if my hair is dirty and I'm being to lazy to wash it ( disgusting I know ) I feel like the bandana hides the fact I haven't washed my hair and gives it a cute style. Before this month I owned two bandanas and now I own five, I have started buying the colours that I know will match my outfits and it's becoming a small problem ( a problem I love, but in sure my bank account will hate )

Lauren -
One thing everyone needs to know about me is that I actually am I very boring person. When it comes to favourites, I either have a thousand things I like or there's very little and unfortunately this month there is very little I've found I actually like. Here's a few things that I have loved this month...

Ben and Jerry's peanut butter cups ice cream -
This was on offer in a shop near me and thanks to Kate I have a serious obsession with peanut butter now and so I just had to try this. It was absolutely amazing, if you're like me and love peanut butter then you MUST try this!! I can't even explain how much I'm in love with this ice cream.

Leather Jacket -
For ages I have wanted a leather jacket and finally I have one. I found them all to be really expensive and as I'm a student, currently without a job, I still rely mostly on my mother for money so leather jackets were always out of the picture. However, we were looking around for Christmas presents in Tesco and out of the corner of my eye I saw an amazing leather jacket for only £32. It's one of the nicest around too especially for the price.

Maybelline super stay 10h tint gloss -
Now I had this lip gloss a few months ago but as it was summer and the gloss colour was purple it didn't really work well with any of my summer clothes but as it's now autumn I think the colour looks amazing (especially with my new leather jacket). I was always afraid to wear dark lipstick as I'm so pale but I think the purple really complements my skin and looks very autumnal.

Twenty-One Pilots -
These are a group that most people haven't heard of, their music style is quite different and I wouldn't even know how to explain them to people. One of my best friends introduced me to them and for some reason over the past few weeks I have become obsessed and downloaded most of their songs! My absolute favourite song by them is 'The Judge' it's quite different from what I usually listen to but if you have a minute spare definitely take the time to listen to them.

Quiz up -
This is quite an old app but I rediscovered it earlier this month and forgot how amazing it was. You can challenge people around the world on a whole range of topics. The Disney Princess topics I am challenging people to over and over again because it is just so addictive!

So that's all the things we've been loving this month,
Until next time,

- Kate and Lauren.

Dyslexia- school

My teachers thought it was a phase that I would grow out of, but that wasn't the case. My mother knew that there was more to it, and asked for me to be tested, and in year 5 of primary school I was diagnosed with dyslexia.

Having dyslexia in primary school wasn't that bad, there were small classes so I could have a little more time with my teachers, the work load wasn't massive and I was able to take my time. However I did still have my fair share of problems.
In year 6 I had a teacher who didn't fully understand my dyslexia. To talk to I was a fairly smart child, I could talk for the country, but being able to put the stuff in my mind down on paper was very difficult.

My teacher in year 6 didn't understand that I learnt in different ways to the other children in my class and that I had to put things in my own way, which meant we had a few disagreements.
One of the biggest falling outs I remember having with this teacher was when he wanted to keep me in at lunch time as I didn't pass our weekly spelling test. When he asked if I had learnt the spellings, I told him "yes I learnt them this morning", as my memory wasn't brilliant I would have to learn my spellings on the way to school so that they were fresh in my mind ready for the test, but my teacher didn't think this was a good idea, that I hadn't given myself time to learn them and that was lazy and the reason that I didn't do well, and when I didn't see it fair for him to keep me in on that lunch time he wasn't happy.

Going into secondary school things changed, classes were bigger, there was more work and things moved at a faster pace which meant my dyslexia definitely got in my way.

A few times a week I got pulled out of classes to be able to work in a small group and look at different ways to battle my dyslexia, but these little group session caused me a few issues. The group work was amazing, there were three of us in the group and we all got along, and the work we used to do really helped but the way the other students reacted to us getting pulled out of classes wasn't great. Now I'm sure everyone gets bullied at some point in their lives and my bully experience came in school due to dyslexia. So I didn't get beaten up or bullied in a physical manner but words can hurt to. I got called stuipd so many times because of my dyslexia, but thanks to my amazing friends who stood up for me the bully's soon gave up on me.

In exam season in secondary school I was allowed extra time to compleat the exams, which again caused me a few problems. Some people didn't think it was fair for me and the other dyslexics to have extra time and they looked at it as cheating as we were all sitting the same exam, but we were allowed more time to compleat it. Now this wasn't the case, it was in no way cheating, having dyslexia means that I do happen to read slower, write slower and also being able to move the answers from my head on to paper took time. But most of the time I didn't use the extra time as I didn't need it, which was always a good feeling, as it kinda showed that even though I had dyslexia I didn't need no special treatment.

Growing up with dyslexia wasn't all bad, yes I got bullied for a little while, and I often felt left out as I couldn't do things in lessons that the others could, but dyslexia made me who I am.

It's made me unique, I look at things in a different way to others, which has often gave me a step up in situations.
I've learnt to love my dyslexia and all that comes with it, people can make any comment they want about dyslexics and it wouldn't bother me any more, as I know that I am smart in my own way, I make it work for me because it's who I am.

Until next time, see you later alligator.

Becoming Peter Pan and Tinkerbell - lifestyle

With Halloween coming up we thought we would talk about the day when we became Peter Pan and Tinkerbell.

No matter how old, dressing up is always fun! In this post we'll give some tips and tricks on cheap ways to become your favourite characters.

Peter pan -
Now if you're female (like me) then becoming a boy is slightly harder but still doable and fun. My costume was bought online as it was easier for last minute but there are plenty of other cheap ways to dress up.

Costume -
Green leggins
A green t-shirt
Brown boots
Green peter pan style hat (available online or in fancy dress shops)

Hair -
If female then a wig may be needed or you could just tie long hair up in bun

Makeup -
Brown eyebrow pencil (to create the freckled look)
Blush (pink)
Mascara
(Of course this is from a girls perspective so makeup is optional)

Tinkerbell -
My costume was also bought online but there is again so many other ways of creating the look.

Costume -
A green dress, or a oversized long green t-shirt
Wings ( available online or in a fancy dress shop )
Green shoes

Hair -
I went for a wig but the look can easily be recreated with out one.
Put your hair into a high ballerina bun and add a little green ribbon around it.

Make up -
Foundation
Power
Blush (pink)
Light eyebrow pencil (especially if you have dark brows like I do)
Mascara
Lip tint (dark pink)
And glitter ( this is optional but I feel like it give that extra fairy/pixie touch)

And to finish off the perfect tinkerbell look don't forget that pixie attitude!

Now we both like to dress up and put a lot of effort into costumes, but if that isn't for you, you could look into Disney bounding as your favourite character, it's a way of adding a splash of character into casual clothes, it's dressing up without dressing up!

Until next time,

-Kate and Lauren.

Being back

We're back and can't wait to start blogging again!
It's been a while and things have been super busy and we can't wait to tell you about all the new things happening in our lives.

Things are going to slightly change from the way we use to blog before but it's not going to make that much of a difference.
When we started blogging we had set topics that we would write about and the topics would rotate, however it sarted to get be one difficult to keep the patten if you didn't have a idea for the chosen topic, so from now on we will be keeping the topics but choosing which one we want to write about on our day.
Also if a day is missed we are sorry it all depends on our work load in college and university, we will try our hardest to keep updating.

We are also introducing a new topic call favourites, where on the last Sunday of each month we will take about all the things we have been loving for the month.

That's all for now, see ya next time ,

-Kate and Lauren.
